Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy announced that a trio of players will be unavailable to the team in their final game of a three-game trip to Western Canada. Logan Thompson and Reilly Smith, who both left Thursday's game against the Calgary Flames with lower-body injuries, have traveled back to Las Vegas for injury maintenance. Additionally, defensemen Alec Martinez is unavailable due to personal reasons.

Smith took a hit from Flames' forward Walker Duehr Thursday, left the game, and did not return. Cassidy confirmed in an aforementioned quote that the injury was to Smith's lower body. This injury ends Smith's career-high nine-game point streak, which was only one off from being a franchise record.

Thompson left the game with roughly six minutes remaining in the third period. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary until Thompson unexpectedly got up and went to the dressing room, possibly re-injuring the same injury that previously kept him out of the lineup. Jonathan Quick finished the game for the VGK.

The Golden Knights will play the Edmonton Oilers Saturday at 7:00 p.m. before they return home for their next game against said Oilers. In the best-case scenario, all three players will be available to return to the team then.

Depth players like Ben Hutton, Paul Cotter, and the coming-off-injury Keegan Kolesar and Laurent Brossoit will likely be the players called on to fill the holes on the roster. Cassidy confirmed that goaltender Brossoit was getting in some work Friday at practice in an attempt to get the start Saturday.

"It's been an interesting year in the goaltending area… Life goes on, it's Edmonton next. Paul Cotter was out, (Keegan) Kolesar is close and LB (Laurent Brossoit) is practicing, so we just have to be mindful. The next guys gotta be ready to go in. We have kind of dealt with that all year," said Cassidy.
