Golden Knights Roundup: Marchessault, Cotter Practicing, Martinez Could Play Tomorrow

It wasn't the blue Nevada Day jerseys like you see in the featured image, but both Paul Cotter and Jonathan Marchessault were in blue no-contact jerseys for the Vegas Golden Knights practice Friday morning at City National Arena.

The Golden Knights and head coach Bruce Cassidy announced a couple of housekeeping lineup changes in preparation for the team's New Years' Eve showdown against the Nashville Predators at noon. 

Both Marchessault and Cotter skated, but not in line rushes. They are not expected to play Saturday, per Cassidy. However, Cassidy stated that defensemen Alec Martinez, who blocked a shot against the LA Kings, may return Saturday after a one-game absence.

Sheldon Rempal has been recalled from the Henderson Silver Knights as forward Pavel Dorofeyev is injured and being evaluated.

Rempal is a 27-year-old Canadian forward that the VGK signed in free agency. He has 11 games of NHL experience and is the leading scorer for the HSK.

"I'm just someone who plays with pace and can up the tempo of the game. I don't want to come here and try anything crazy offensively. I just want to do my job. Hopefully, Bruce (Cassidy) can trust me. That's kind of my main goal. Once he trusts me that I can start playing more of my game, which is offensive," said Rempal.

Cassidy admitted that the Golden Knights are going off the Silver Knight's recommendations for call-ups, given that the only other time the VGK's coaching staff has seen Rempal this season was in training camp. The Golden Knights have used "Silver Knights" Logan Thompson, Paul Cotter, Daniil Miromanov, Jake Leschyshyn, Jonas Rondbjerg, Brayden Pachal, Pavel Dorofeyev, and now Rempal this season.

Lastly, Cassidy mentioned that Jack Eichel is skating and that every other injured member of the VGK are on schedule in their recovery processes.
